I have three sons and a wonderful partner with whom I have shared my life for almost 24 years. I have a job I love, and recently I bought a beautiful piece of land in Bellechasse with a small river running through it. I am very fortunate.<\/p>\n<p>Yet in January 2025, our lives were turned upside down.<\/p>\n<p>I had an appointment at the Quebec Breast Disease Centre. The diagnosis: breast cancer\u2014an invasive ductal carcinoma, triple-negative; stage 3, grade 3. An \u201caggressive\u201d cancer, I was told.<\/p>\n<p>What followed was a series of chemotherapy treatments that lasted until the end of the summer. Then we began planning surgery.<\/p>\n<p>But life took another devastating turn on August 18.<\/p>\n<p>My oncologist called me while I was shopping at Maxi. I was standing in aisle 4, between the toilet paper and disinfectant. The results of my second bone scan were in: cancer had spread to my bones. The disease had progressed despite treatment, bringing me, unwillingly, to Stage 4.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;It can&#8217;t be cured, but it can be treated to prolong life.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Who knows what my life would look like today if I had been eligible for the Quebec Breast\u00a0Cancer Screening Program at age 45? Or better yet, at age 40?<\/p>\n<p>If my cancer had been detected earlier, would it still have found its way to my bones?<\/p>\n<p>I will never know. For me, it is too late.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the palliative treatments that are keeping me alive, my children, my partner, and all those who love me will one day have to face this loss. And our society will lose an active, dynamic woman who loves life\u2014yet another one.<\/p>\n<p>That said, I still hold hope that things can be different for other women in Quebec.<\/p>\n<p>That is why I created this petition, and I invite Quebec residents to sign it. Trois gar\u00e7ons et un conjoint formidable avec qui je partage ma vie depuis presque 24 ans. J\u2019ai un m\u00e9tier que j\u2019adore, et depuis peu, une terre magnifique dans Bellechasse avec une petite rivi\u00e8re qui coule dessus. Je suis tr\u00e8s choy\u00e9e.<\/span><\/p>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"><br clear=\"none\" \/>Pourtant, en janvier 2025, notre vie bascule. Rendez-vous au Centre des maladies du sein de Qu\u00e9bec. Diagnostic : cancer du sein, carcinome canalaire infiltrant, triple n\u00e9gatif. Stade 3, grade 3. Un cancer \u00ab agressif \u00bb, nous dit-on.<br clear=\"none\" \/><br clear=\"none\" \/>S\u2019ensuit une s\u00e9rie de traitements de chimioth\u00e9rapie jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la fin de l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9. Puis, on planifie l\u2019op\u00e9ration. Pourtant, la vie d\u00e9rape \u00e0 nouveau le 18 ao\u00fbt dernier.<br clear=\"none\" \/><br clear=\"none\" \/>Mon oncologue me rejoint au t\u00e9l\u00e9phone. Je suis dans la rang\u00e9e 4 au Maxi, entre les rouleaux de papier de toilette et le d\u00e9sinfectant. Scintigraphie osseuse num\u00e9ro 2 : m\u00e9tastases aux os. Le cancer a fait son chemin et nous am\u00e8ne bien malgr\u00e9 nous au stade 4 de la maladie. \u00ab \u00c7a ne se gu\u00e9rit pas, mais \u00e7a se traite pour prolonger la vie. \u00bb<\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"><br clear=\"none\" \/>Qui sait ce que serait ma vie aujourd\u2019hui si j\u2019avais eu acc\u00e8s au Programme qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois de d\u00e9pistage du cancer du sein \u00e0 45 ans? Ou mieux encore, \u00e0 40? D\u00e9tect\u00e9 plus t\u00f4t, le sentier vers les os aurait-il \u00e9t\u00e9 trac\u00e9 quand m\u00eame?<br clear=\"none\" \/><br clear=\"none\" \/>Je ne saurai jamais et pour moi, il est trop tard. Au-del\u00e0 de ces traitements palliatifs qui me tiennent en vie, mes enfants, mon conjoint et tous mes proches devront apprivoiser le deuil et notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9 perdra une femme active et dynamique, une amoureuse de la vie, encore une autre !!!<br clear=\"none\" \/><br clear=\"none\" \/>Ceci dit, j\u2019ai espoir que pour d\u2019autres Qu\u00e9b\u00e9coises, il puisse en \u00eatre autrement. Alors, j\u2019ai mis en ligne cette p\u00e9tition que je vous invite \u00e0 signer en grand nombre.
