DBC founder Jennie Dale recently spoke with The Hill Times about the breast cancer screening guideline debacle and why a fresh start is needed- not an update of the flawed draft. It’s time to move away from a one size fits all approach and to ensure guidelines are based on the most current evidence, Canada’s diverse population and that they involve experts and patients in the review process. The process needs an equitable look at screening for women in the 40s as well as a fresh look at supplemental screening for women with dense breasts, and guidelines for high risk patients and women over 74.
